Where is my ShowBill data stored?
ShowBill keeps your business records on your device by default. If you choose to enable iCloud Sync, the app moves eligible records to your private iCloud database so they can stay in sync across your Apple devices.
How do I restore or move my records?
Open Settings → Backup, Restore & Import. ShowBill keeps automatic on-device snapshots, and you can export a JSON backup for an off-device copy or import supported CSV data.
Why is a receipt scan not appearing?
Confirm that camera access is enabled for ShowBill in your device settings. You can also add an existing receipt image or document through the expense workflow.
How do I email receipts to ShowBill?
Open Expenses → Receipt Library → Email Receipts. Verify the displayed business email if needed, select Enable Receipt Email, and copy your receipt address. Forward from that verified email, putting the receipt address in To. Direct messages from merchants or other addresses are not accepted. Open ShowBill within 7 days to import, or select Check for Receipts. Each business has its own address.
What can a receipt email contain?
Attach a PDF or supported receipt image, or forward an email whose body is the receipt. With a primary receipt attachment, ShowBill does not also create a receipt from the email body. For a body-only receipt, the app creates a simplified PDF with receipt text, basic formatting, and tables. Original email colors, fonts, and images are not preserved, and remote images are not downloaded. It filters likely signatures and decorative images; check the result before creating an expense. Separate receipt documents can create separate library entries. Send separate body-only receipts in separate emails. The limit is 8 MB per email, including email encoding, and 12 attachments.
Does forwarding a receipt create an expense?
No. It saves a receipt for review in Receipt Library. Choose Create Expense or attach it to an existing expense when ready. Saved receipts sync to your other devices if that business uses iCloud Sync. The temporary delivery copy is deleted after a confirmed save and expires after 7 days if not imported. If a receipt expires, forward it again in a new email.
How are invoices emailed?
You can open an invoice in Mail or send it directly with Send with ShowBill. Gmail and Google Workspace connection is coming soon. Once available, you’ll be able to disconnect a connected Google account at any time in Settings.
How do I stop calendar, location, or notification access?
Turn off the related ShowBill setting, or change the permission in Apple Settings. ShowBill will continue to work without optional permissions, though the related automation will be unavailable.
How do I delete my data?
In ShowBill, open Settings and use the data reset controls to remove company records. You can also disconnect a connected email account and disable iCloud Sync or notifications. To request deletion of backend workspace, notification, email-delivery, or support data, email support@showbill.app with the subject “Privacy Request.” We may need to verify the request before completing it.
